Terms of Service

1. The Service

Cosmic Canvas lets you claim a celestial body — a planet, moon, star, or other object — in a single shared, persistently rendered universe. A free "Stardust" tier is available to any signed-in account; paid tiers unlock larger, rarer, or more prominent bodies, some of which are capped in total supply.

Once created, a body is placed at a stable coordinate and becomes visible to visitors exploring the universe, subject to these Terms and the moderation rules below.

2. What You Purchase & Duration

A purchase creates a personal digital place in the shared 3D universe. It does not grant ownership of an astronomical object, an NFT, a financial investment, intellectual-property rights in the Service, or any promise of resale value.

We provide durable display while the Service remains operated, subject to moderation rules, technical constraints, and compliance with these Terms. This is an operating commitment, not a guarantee of uninterrupted or eternal hosting. There is no mechanism to relist, resell, or transfer a body to another account.

Refunds, where available, are governed by our Refund Policy and do not necessarily remove the body from the universe — see that policy for how a refunded body is handled. Choose your tier, name, and content carefully before completing a purchase.

3. Your Content & Links

When you claim a body you may add a label/name, a short description, an external link, and, on eligible tiers, an uploaded image. You are solely responsible for anything you submit — you must own or have the right to use everything you upload, and it must not infringe anyone else's rights.

You may not submit content or links that are illegal; that harass, threaten, or sexualize minors; that contain malware, phishing, or deliberately deceptive links; that impersonate another person or entity; or that infringe someone else's intellectual property. We may reject, hide, or edit content that violates these rules at any time, without notice.

Accepted content and links are intended to remain associated with the body while the Service is operated, subject to later moderation action as described below.

4. Moderation, Reports & Hiding

Uploaded images pass through an automated moderation check before publication. Any visitor can report a body's label, description, image, or link that they believe violates these Terms; reports are queued for review by our moderation team.

While a report is investigated — or indefinitely if a violation is confirmed — we may hide the offending content (label, description, image, or URL) from public view. We may retain a neutralized coordinate record instead of the flagged content.

To prevent abuse of the reporting system, we log the reporter's account or, for anonymous reports, their IP address. See our Privacy Policy for how that data is handled.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: automate or bulk-claim bodies to exploit rarity or pricing; attempt to bypass moderation, payment, or the claim-rate limits; probe, scan, or attempt to reverse-engineer the Service's infrastructure beyond normal use; or otherwise interfere with other users' ability to use the Service.

6. Accounts

You need an account — via Google sign-in or a one-time sign-in link emailed to you — to claim a body. You're responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity that occurs under your account.

7. Payment

Paid tiers are processed by a third-party payment processor of your choice at checkout (currently Stripe, PayPal, or a cryptocurrency processor). We never see or store your full card number. See our Privacy Policy and Refund Policy for details on payment data and refund eligibility.

8. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We aim to operate and preserve the universe durably, but do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or eternal hosting.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Cosmic Canvas and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data, goodwill, or the unavailability of a previously claimed body, arising from your use of the Service.

9. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time; material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by French law, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent French courts.
